Bench Pouring Workflow and Thermal Milestones

Reproducible candlemaking is an exercise in applied thermal physics. Follow this bench sequence when utilizing our studio starter kit.

Milestone 1 — Controlled Melting (185°F) Place wax flakes into the 2L pitcher over a double-boiler water bath. Heat to 185°F (85°C) to fully break the crystalline seed memory of the vegetable lipids.
Milestone 2 — Fragrance Oil Addition (180°F) Remove pitcher from heat. Add weighed fragrance compound (8% to 10% load) at 180°F. Stir slowly in alternate clockwise and counter-clockwise strokes for 120 seconds.
Milestone 3 — The Pour Window (135°F) Allow wax to cool undisturbed until the immersion probe reads 135°F (57°C). Pour smoothly against the vessel wall to prevent air pocket entrapment.
Milestone 4 — 14-Day Ambient Cure Allow vessels to cure undisturbed at 68–72°F for fourteen full days. Premature burning disrupts crystal formation, cutting aromatic throw by up to 40%.
