Thermal Parameters for Wax Bases

Every wax base carries a documented melt point, pour window, and maximum fragrance binding capacity. Overheating destroys the botanical ester chains; underheating induces instant frosting and surface cavitation.

Base Material Melt Point Fragrance Addition Temp Pour Window Max Fragrance Load Specific Density
Soy Wax Golden Flakes (464 Base) 115°F – 120°F (46°C – 49°C) 185°F (85°C) 135°F ± 5°F (57°C) 10.0% by weight 0.86 g/ml
Coconut Apricot Creme Wax 125°F (51.6°C) 175°F (79.4°C) 155°F ± 5°F (68°C) 11.5% by weight 0.84 g/ml
Pure Yellow Beeswax Pellets 145°F (62.8°C) 165°F (73.8°C) 155°F – 160°F 6.0% by weight 0.95 g/ml
Paraffin-Free Casting Blend 130°F (54.4°C) 180°F (82.2°C) 140°F ± 3°F (60°C) 9.0% by weight 0.87 g/ml
Soy 464 Chemistry
100% natural hydrogenated soybean oil flakes. Requires 185°F addition threshold to break crystal structure and accept fragrance binding without surface weep.
Coconut Apricot Behavior
Single-pour performance with superior glass adhesion down to 60°F ambient room temperatures. Minimal shrinkage during bench crystallization.
Yellow Beeswax Rule
Triple-filtered domestic capping wax. Requires Series 3 cotton or 13mm wood wick to counter high melt viscosity. Never blended above 15% with soy 464 for container pours.
Quotation Basis
Tiered by weight upon inquiry. Minimum block size 5 lb; bulk orders dispatch in 50 lb master cartons from our Austin warehouse.

Fragrance Flash Points and Safe Incorporation

Fragrance oils are compounded without phthalates, tested for flash points above 165°F, and rated for cold and hot throw. Adding fragrance above its flash point flashes off volatile aromatic esters and poses safety hazards in unventilated workshops.

Compound Profile Tested Flash Point Addition Temp Window Recommended Load IFRA Category 12 Maximum Price Basis
Texas Cedar & Smoked Amber 198°F (92.2°C) 180°F – 185°F 8.0% – 10.0% 100% (No IFRA Cap) Inquiry (16 oz / 32 oz jug)
Wild Bergamot & Fresh Sage 174°F (78.9°C) 170°F – 174°F 7.0% – 8.5% 42.5% max load Inquiry (16 oz / 32 oz jug)
Dark Vanilla Bean & Birch Bark >204°F (>95.5°C) 185°F 8.0% – 9.0% 100% (Vanillin 4.2%) Inquiry (16 oz / 32 oz jug)
Highland Pine & Damp Earth 188°F (86.7°C) 180°F 7.5% – 9.0% 65.0% max load Inquiry (16 oz / 32 oz jug)
Bench Protocol: Addition
Always verify wax temperature is below the compound’s tested flash point before introducing oils. Stir continuously for 120 seconds in an alternating clockwise and figure-eight motion.
Failure Mode: Oil Separation
Pouring below 130°F with saturated 10% fragrance load prevents full crystallization trapping, resulting in oily droplets sweating onto the candle surface within 48 hours.
Failure Mode: Scent Flash-Off
Pouring oils into molten wax above 200°F volatilizes delicate citrus monoterpenes like bergamot, reducing cold throw intensity by up to 40%.
Dispatched Quantities
Amber glass bottles with phenolic cone caps in 16 oz and 32 oz formats. Invoiced volume tiers available on request.

Wick Calibration by Vessel Diameter

Wick sizing is calibrated to exact vessel inside diameters to prevent tunneling and soot accumulation. A wick that is 1mm too small creates a permanent deep tunnel; one that is 1mm too large overheats the glass and smokes.

Vessel Type Inside Diameter Cotton Wick Pairing Wood Wick Pairing Flame Clearance Burn Rate Benchmark
Matte Black Steel Tin (8 oz) 76 mm (3.00 in) ECO 10 / CD 14 10 mm single ply 18 mm to 22 mm 3.8 g to 4.2 g / hour

Sustainably harvested native cherry hardwood cut to 0.03" thickness, paired with stainless steel clip bases to ensure flame extinguishes 0.5" above jar bottom.
